Is Halloween Too Scary for Little Kids?

Little kids trick-or-treating

I don’t know how you all feel about this, but it seems to me that every year Halloween becomes more and more extreme. People decorate their houses with such gruesome, realistic looking characters like a bloody human head cute off, dangling from a body. Is this really necessary? Does anyone ever think about how smaller kids might feel when they go trick or treating and see these things?

Halloween decorations should be fun and a little scary. There’s a difference between creating a fictive, funny looking monster with googly eyes, than making it all look like a realistic crime scene. I truly believe that some children can be very effected by these gruesome scenes. No kids should become familiar with images like these, it’s very disturbing. I don’t understand why people have to go to such extremes now-a-days, in order to satisfy their need for entertainment.

Being a mom myself, I would like to see more of an age appropriate Halloween for kids. After all, isn’t trick-or-treating mainly for kids? Don’t you think it should be more kid friendly?

How to attract Owls in your own Backyard

We know them mostly as animals that turn their heads all the way around and have big yellow eyes, but there are so many more amazing facts we can learn about this creature.

Did you know that there are roughly 200 different species of owls worldwide, living in places like the rainforest, tundras, and even in deserts? Some owls even live in a hallowed out cactus! A lot of people believe that all owls make hooting and screeching sounds when actually a majority of owls don’t even hoot at all. As a matter of fact, when owls hunt and they swoop down, they have the ability to remain completely silent so the prey will not hear their approach. Owls are beautiful, mysterious and fascinating animals.

If you are in love with owls, and you would like to experience one up close, you can attract owls in your own garden or backyard. The way to do that is to supply the animal with all of its needs such as food, water, shelter and nesting sites. You’ll need to attract mice to your garden by placing a pile of brush in a corner and placing bits of peanut butter everywhere. Then you'll need to supply the owl with a bird bath, in a secluded portion of your garden, for bathing and drinking. For the shelter and nesting area, they love hollow tree trunks and nest boxes which you can easily create with an empty cardboard or wooden box. If you try this, you might just have a cute owl of your own to observe right in your own backyard!

Maybe you've already seen some there already. Have you ever found an owl in your garden?

NEW! Cute Owl Designs for Kids Birthdays in newly launched Zazzle Store.

Cute Owl Birthday Invitations

Every kids birthday party starts with a cute birthday party invitation. I used to draw every single invitation by hand and send them out that way. If you're organizing a big birthday party for your child, you will face a lot of hard work, if you're doing it by yourself.

Luckily, there are some really cool online stores out there, where you can buy original pre-designed, customizable birthday cards, invitations, and even U.S. postage stamps, to make your life a little easier.

Recently, I opened up a new store on Zazzle, starting with a cute baby owl designed in a trendy retro style, which is perfect for any owl bird themed birthday party or baby shower event. New designs and products will be added on a regular basis.

I'd like to invite you to check out my new EyeloveTOONS Zazzle Store and would love some feedback.

So, how do you like my little baby owl?
